Mentoring Program
The EA Mentoring Program provides youth with a one-on-one, structured and trusting relationship with a caring adult, who offers guidance, support, and encouragement with the goal of developing the youth’s character and capabilities. The mentoring relationship focuses on the youth’s strengths and encourages active participation in his or her own development.
The success of a child’s participation in the mentoring relationship relies on the duration and consistency of time spent with the mentor. Mentors and mentees are encouraged to meet regularly each week for a set amount of time per month. Mentoring relationships are expected to last at least six months, but are encouraged to last at least one year.
One of the greatest advantages of the mentoring program is its flexibility in meeting the needs of each child. The program’s goals are divided into categories of social, academic, vocational goals and are structured around the youth’s developmental goals.
